Why you need bundles in your Etsy shop

In your (digital) Etsy shop, a bundle is the perfect item for attracting more customers and getting more revenue.
But what exactly is a bundle, and how do you create a bundle?
And why do you need bundles of digital products in your shop?
Let me explain all of this.
This article particularly applies to a digital Etsy shop.
However, the same principles can be used if you have an Etsy shop that sells physical products.

1. What is a bundle, and why do I need one?

A bundle is a collection of different listings combined into one big listing.
Let's say you have ten AI art listings of different flowers. You can now combine these ten into one single item and list this one.
For example, a single listing in your shop is for sale for 3$; you can now ask 21$ for a collection of 10 items. People are more tempted to buy a big item with a nice discount than 2 or 3 smaller items.
Putting the title 'Big Discount Bundle', 'Buy 7, get 10' or '30% discount Bundle', ... to attract people into buying this.
Pretty straightforward, right?
But now comes the genius part about these bundles.
All your single items are used to bring traffic to your store; the more, the better. You want to drive traffic to your page to sell the real moneymakers, the bundles that are priced higher.
You build a clientele of people buying these 'cheaper' single items. And then you give them a tempting offer to buy the more 'expensive' items: the bundles you sell.
And these are the ones that will make you money. These are the ones that make money, not the 'cheap' items.
There are different kinds of bundles possible, like:
  • Access to every item in your store
  • Commercial license for all your products
  • Bundle of grouped items
  • Yearly free access to your store
  • Another advantage of bundles is that running ads on them is much more profitable. If you run an ad on a $3$ item, you pay $0.5$ per click. You pay the same amount per click for the $15$ bundle.

    2. How to create a bundle

The issue with an Etsy listing is that you can only upload five files out of 20 MB.
A bundle of AI art (especially when you offer it in .png format) quickly surpasses this amount. So how to create a listing of 100 items that's around 400MB?
Here comes the magic of cloud storage into play.
I think everyone has some 'free' gigabytes of cloud storage (like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, ...).
All you have to do is create a folder in your shared drive (I am using Google Drive as an example).
You then drag and drop (or copy) all the items in your bundle into this folder, and you're almost done.
The next thing you have to do is share this folder and make it available to others. Therefore, you click on 'Manage Access'.
    Etsy create bundle 1
In the popup screen, click on 'Restricted'.
    Etsy create bundle 2
Select 'Anyone with the link' and click on 'done'.
    Etsy create bundle 3
Copy and paste this link into a document (write some nice words and instructions that go with it), create a pdf file (looks more professional) from it, and you're ready.
You can now use this pdf file as an upload in your bundle item.
It is really as simple as that. When someone buys your bundle, they can download the pdf file and use the given link to access all the items in that bundle.
