July 2024 Etsy income
Big celebration this month: my Etsy shop is officially one year old now!
Quarter 3 generally means that all Etsy shops see a significant drop in their sales.
July is the first real summer month, and will the downtrend from June continue? Or have I reached the bottom of my numbers for this year?
As you can guess, nothing really spectacular happened in July, but I am going to present my numbers anyway.
I will put my monthly numbers in a format different from the one you used to see.
It all looked the same, and it looked boring (I hope this new format is more appealing).
So, here we go... the numbers for July.
Numbers
My productivity in July was also in vacation mode. I planned to list two new items every week, but I was only able to list one every week, bringing my total to 130 listings in this shop.
The number of visitors increased slightly compared to June, which makes me believe (or hope) that the worst has passed and that everything will go up again from now on.
As you can see in the screenshot above, my Etsy shop is now officially one year old, and there's now a line in the stats where I can see the change with last year's numbers.
As I only opened my shop at the end of June last year, this percentage means little as my shop was still in the 'discovery' phase last year. The real comparison test will only be for October, as my shop was suspended for a month in August.
But it's still nice to see that my shop is doing better than the previous year.
An increase in the number of visitors, but will this also show in the sales and revenue for this month>
53 visitors made a sale in July, with a total of 65 items sold.
This is almost a 50% increase from the previous month.
The total revenue was 148.5$, which is also a 50% increase.
There was a slight increase in the number of visitors but a big one in the sales numbers. And this made me a happy person.
Costs for having my Etsy shop in July:
Listing fees: 16.63€
Transaction fees: 9.44€
Processing fees: 21.94€
VAT on seller fees: 10.26€
Offsite ads: 0.3€
Which totals up to 58.57€ in fees.
When I add my eRank and Midjourney subscriptions, the total July costs were 93.57€.
The total profit for the month of July is 52.43€.
Global overview ...
Again, there is nothing spectacular to mention here, but there are two numbers that keep me motivated.
In July, I had six repeat buyers. These are people who have bought items from my shop before and came back to buy new articles. This means they were satisfied with their previous purchase and liked my newly published articles.
Again, I got six 5-star ratings in July. This means the quality of my products must be good.
I only had one 1-star rating (that's why the average for July is not 5), and this is because a customer was not happy at all with her purchase. This is all because she didn't read the description of the article. It's not because you buy a teddy bear that you will get the knitting patterns for making it yourself (as an example). Usually, I would have refunded such customers, but I gave up doing that. It's not my fault they don't read the description.
My plan for the upcoming month is to prepare my shop for Q4. I will make an extra effort and try listing two new items every week and make articles in the Halloween theme already.
